Laura “Kirtan” Marcotte has been working in the field of personal development for over 15 years. She took her first yoga class in 1994 had a profound experience and has been studying the aspects of yoga since that day. Laura has certificates in several styles of Yoga, sound healing and meditation. Her favorite is Kundalini yoga and that is the style she uses in her daily personal practice.The mother of two adult sons, Laura also teaches children’s Yoga. She found the centering, relaxation and focus adults get from yoga is the same for children and hoped to share this to assist children with personal power, learning and empowerment. In 2006 she wrote the yoga curriculum being used in AISD schools K-12. Currently she teaches workshops and teacher trainings for yoga and meditation. She has lectured at UT Austin and The Texas Behavioral Conference. Laura has also been involved in yoga for addiction recovery working with patients at Cottage hospital in Santa Barbara as well as Lead teacher in addiction recovery teacher training here in Austin. Laura was given the spiritual name Kirtan by Yogi Bhajan in 2003 she loves to build community with chanting, singing and fun in her classes. Sharing the simple practical tools for daily living that yoga imparts is her joy.
